How to participate

Participating is easy, using the free walking app Go Jauntly or a paper-based form*.

To participate, walk the two routes available in your city as many times as you want, until 3rd April 2024, answering a few questions about your experience and you. You can participate when it suits you, alone or with family or friends.

To participate using the app:

Install and open the free walking app Go Jauntly for Android or iPhone
Search for “WalkEE”, clicking on the “magnifier” icon in the top left corner and selecting the option “by walk names”
Select the route you would like to walk
Read the information
If you are happy to take part, swipe right and the app will guide you through the walk, asking a few questions about your experience. All the data transmitted to the researchers will be anonymised – the team will never see your name or email address.

Open the app and locate the “search” function (magnifier, in the top left corner)

Search for “WalkEE”. First, the places will display – click “by walk names”, above the results

Choose the walk you would like to walk (in this picture, only the UK walks appear)

Let the app guide you – just swipe left to go to the next step. If there is a “read more” option, swipe up to display it.

The app will guide you step by step and ask a few short questions. Your personal data such as name and email will not be shared with the research team. All the analyses and publications will be anonymised.

(*) We understand not everyone can or wants to use the app, and we want to make participation possible for the wider number. If you would like to participate without using the app, please email to the project lead, Dr Tamara Bozovic, who will send you a paper-based version and a pre-paid envelope for sending it back: tamara.bozovic@uwe.ac.uk. We are also looking for locations close to the walk where paper-based forms could be picked up and dropped off – those will be displayed here.
